We have finally secured the mats and the venue for Ikeda sensei's first UK seminar (April 20-22, 2012).

The seminar will be held at Grace Academy, Wigston Road, Coventry, West Midlands, CV2 2RH. Must give out a huge thanks to Phil Smith and Guy Needler from the UK Aikikai for allowing us to use their mats.

Chishin Dojo will be supporting the International Aiki Peace Week initiative this year by having open classes all week focusing on Internal Strength - no Dogi's, no Hakama's and no belts. Just 7.5 hours of Jin work.

We're asking every member to donate £1 extra per class in order to raise some funds for Aiki Extensions. Aiki Extensions is an international nonprofit organisation dedicated to the application of Aiki principles in situations outside the dojo.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to War Lewis and his family for inviting me to teach my first seminar over the weekend. I was invited down to teach the basics of Internal Strength in Aikido based upon the groundpath and suit work from Mike Sigman.

We had a pretty good turn out and covered Mike's baseline parameters for IS. Everyone seemed to enjoy the workshop and hopefully came away with enough information to get their toe in the door so to speak.

The dojo I have to say is one of the most beautiful dojos I have ever had the pleasure to visit. I cant wait come back again. Any student who studies at Shinsei Dojo should be very proud indeed.

Suffice to say, they both successfully passed 2nd dan, huge congratulations to both, our dojo just got a little stronger and grew that little bit more and Tom, wherever you are, thanks for stopping by.

After spending some time with Mike Sigman looking at the basics of internal strength skills all of the classes have been refocussed. There will be an element of Jin development on EVERY class with an extra focus on Tuesdays whilst also including Suit development. Wednesdays main focus will be grading work with Thursdays looking at Randori. As usual, Saturday classes are decided by the dojo members with regard to what they would specifically like to work on.

It's with a great deal of sadness that I've just heard Haydn Foster sensei from the Institute of Aikido passed away yesterday. My thoughts are with his family, friends and students. It was always a pleasure being taught by Mr. Foster, as well as being one of the original 5 UK dan grades, he was one of the good ones and will be greatly missed.
